Turning
Our 84 CNC Turning Centers support large diameter turning at close tolerance. Extensive resources of tooling, gaging, and quality machines enable Acutec machines to run at maximum productivity and maintain unmatched quality.
Milling
With 18 vertical, 13 horizontal, and 3 5-axis vertical machining centers, Acutec is established as a premier long and short run part milling facility in Northwestern Pennsylvania.
Lean Manufacturing
A leading proponent and user of this proven process, Acutec utilizes cellular manufacturing and everywhere from quoting to shipped product. Acutec ran a Lean Manufacturing Seminar at its own facilities for all National Tooling and Machining Association members in 2002.
Turning
We have turning capabilities from .250 diameter up to 16.5 inches in diameter. For turning up to 1.625 inches in diameter we can turn up to 27.5 inches long. We can bar feed material up to 2.75' diameter and 12 feet long.
Our turning centers are supported with a large stock of tooling and gaging as well as by Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and comparators on the shop floor.
Acutec has 84 CNC turning centers. Many of our turning centers are set up to run in cellular arrangements. We also have turning centers with live tooling and dual turrets for maximum productivity.
We can turn within .0005" tolerance and with RA finishes of 12. For parts under .0005" tolerance, we employ our own CNC honing and grinding in house. All programs are stored and transmitted via a shop-wide DNC connection system.

Milling
We have eighteen vertical, thirteen horizontal, and three 5-axis vertical machining centers, all equipped with Renishaw touch probes.
We can machine in four and five axis and machine parts from .250 inches diameter to 20 inches diameter. Our machining centers are supported with a large stock of tooling and gaging as well as by Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and comparators on the shop floor. Our Horizontal machining centers have automatic pallet changers.
Tools are gaged and set with a Speroni Optical Presetter and offsets are uploaded to a local server. All mill programs are stored and transmitted via a shop-wide DNC connection system.

Lean Manufacturing
Lean Manufacturing has rapidly become the mode of operation at Acutec Precision Machining. By utilizing the various concepts and tools provided by lean manufacturing, Acutec is maintaining a position on the leading edge of precision machining.
Large amounts of resources have been dedicated to "lean" throughout the entire organization and are utilized everywhere from quoting to the shipped product. A lean manufacturing department has been created which continually strives to refine processes to their most efficient levels. The results are allowing Acutec to provide customers with the service, quality and value needed to compete successfully. Acutec is fully committed to lean manufacturing and will become even more aggressive with it in the future.
Twenty Four Two-Turn Cells
Two-Turn Cells provide Acutec with the means to handle a wide variety of production quantities. Large volume runs are handled quickly, usually with multiple operations running simultaneously. Small or medium runs flow through the cells quickly due to quick changeovers and other cell related benefits. Very large volumes can be run on two machines at the same time. These cells are the offspring of cellular and lean manufacturing and are allowing Acutec to be extremely nimble at meeting various production requirements.
